Be A Good Lawyer

Every year new sets of lawyers are being produced worldwide. And law offices are becoming crowded of lawyers with different specializations in the field of law. New aspirant lawyers have different reasons why they want to be a lawyer. Most people say the want to be a public servant, to help those who are oppressed, for sense of achievements and others for their own personal intentions. Good intentions may help them to become a good lawyer, but the question is how to become a good lawyer.
A good lawyer comes from being a person of good character, but technically, good lawyers should accomplish satisfactory if not excellent grades from any 4 year courses in college (bachelors' degree) and must have 3 years in law school.

A good lawyer uses critical understanding in assigned cases and makes use of analytical skills in solving a problem. Organization skills are also important in setting goals. A lawyer who knows how to organize his activities generally achieves them on time with self-fulfillment and pride. Fluency in the English language is a great advantage for lawyers, as they will find it easy to communicate and to express their ideas or opinions in a courtroom. Writing skills are also important when a judge is asking an attorney to report on a case or write legal documents. Lawyers must have adequate knowledge on basic law and related sciences: logic, philosophy, ethics, economics, public speaking, foreign languages and constitutional rights.
Aspiring students must pass the Law School Admission Test (LSAT) in a half-day standardized test required before admission to Law School. It's a standard measure of reading and verbal reasoning skills that law schools use as one of several factors in assessing applicants. The test in conducted in different nations, given four times yearly.
Prior to submission on law school, a lawyer must decide his field of interest or specialization to put into practice. Some lawyers find it advantage to specialize based on their college courses. A student graduated of accountancy is best suited to become a corporate lawyer. A pre-med graduate finds it's easy to deal with legal matters in the court concerning medical malpractice and other medico-ethical cases. Good lawyers initiate and perform their job well if familiarity in legal issues governed the case is established. Others take different fields of specialization aside from their course in college for they find it a challenge to tackle unfamiliar fields of interest. It's also good for a lawyer to stand for what he believes in, but it even better if a lawyer seeks opinions from other lawyers or seniors. This allows collaboration of opinions and derivation of a better solution or conclusion to a problem.
A good lawyer, who wants to acquire knowledge, should submit himself for an internship in a courtroom or be a student assistant of a court lawyer. Experiencing and observing what a real lawyer does is a good teacher of how to become a lawyer. Senior lawyers are more experienced and usually are more knowledgeable on legal issues. The more you get along with them, the more knowledge you will acquire and the better you will become.
Lastly lawyers who have respect and compassion are sometimes respected and admired. Not all can gain merits from the judge of the courtroom or their superiors. These are only given to those who perform their job well. To become a good lawyer it takes, talent, persistence and perseverance.
